FlyScope.dev – AI-powered drone vision for urban infrastructure

Drones equipped with AI-powered sensors monitor complex urban infrastructure in real-time, enabling proactive maintenance and improving safety. FlyScope uses this advanced technology to revolutionize the way cities inspect and maintain critical assets.

Our mission is to make urban infrastructure management smarter, safer, and more cost-effective through autonomous aerial surveillance.

Company Snapshot

FlyScope is a high-tech startup developing AI-powered sensor and drone vision systems for urban infrastructure monitoring. We integrate advanced computer vision, multi-spectral sensors (optical, thermal, LiDAR), and autonomous drones to detect structural issues in urban assets such as bridges, roads, and buildings before they become critical. By automating inspections, FlyScope significantly reduces costs and risks — a manual bridge inspection can cost around $4,600 and require dangerous work at height, whereas a drone inspection can be completed for as little as $250 while keeping workers safe on the ground. Our AI platform analyzes high-resolution aerial data to detect cracks, corrosion, and other anomalies in real time, helping city managers prevent failures and optimize maintenance. In short, FlyScope’s core technology turns drones into intelligent inspectors, targeting the growing need for smart city infrastructure maintenance.

Traction

  • Prototype Achieved: Developed a working alpha prototype of our drone-mounted sensor suite and AI analytics software. In 2024, FlyScope completed successful field tests on bridges and high-rise facades, demonstrating automatic crack detection and measurement.
  • Pilot Projects: Launching pilot programs with two municipal partners. In Q1 2025, our drones began trial inspections of city bridges and tunnels in Luxembourg City and a major European capital, providing early issue reports that helped city engineers prioritize repairs.
  • Partnerships: Secured a collaboration with a leading construction engineering firm to integrate FlyScope’s data into their maintenance platform. We also signed an MoU with the University of Luxembourg’s SnT research center to co-develop advanced vision algorithms, reinforcing our tech with academic R&D.
  • Recognition & Support: Selected for Luxinnovation’s Fit 4 Start accelerator, Luxembourg’s premier startup program, earning equity-free funding and mentorship. Backed by this support, we expanded our development team and refined our go-to-market strategy. FlyScope has been featured in regional tech press (Silicon Luxembourg) as an up-and-coming player in the drone/AI space and won the “Smart City Innovation Award 2025” at a European urban tech conference.

Market Opportunity

Massive and growing market: Infrastructure monitoring is a multi-billion dollar opportunity. The global drone inspection and monitoring market (our TAM) is projected to grow from $11.6 B in 2022 to $23 B by 2027 (14.6% CAGR), driven by the urgent need to maintain aging infrastructure more efficiently. Drones are already widely used for inspecting critical assets like power lines, wind turbines, and solar farms, and this trend is accelerating as industries seek safer, cost-effective alternatives to manual checks.

Within this broad market, FlyScope’s serviceable segment (SAM) is urban civil infrastructure monitoring – think city bridges, roads, tunnels, and public buildings – a high-growth niche fueled by smart city initiatives and new safety regulations. For example, the European smart cities market is expanding at over 20% annually, reflecting strong investment in digital solutions for urban management. Our initial obtainable market (SOM) targets early-adopter cities and infrastructure operators in Western Europe (a ~$500M subset of the SAM), where drone-friendly regulations and pressing maintenance needs provide a beachhead. By capturing even a few percent of this segment through pilot contracts and SaaS subscriptions, we project 8-figure annual revenues within 3–5 years.

Why now? Aging bridges and roads globally require inspection; governments have earmarked trillions for infrastructure renewal this decade. Yet traditional inspection methods are slow, expensive, and risky. FlyScope’s solution yields 90% cost savings and faster turnaround on inspections (hours instead of days), and it improves safety by keeping workers off dangerous sites (potentially reducing accidents by up to 91%). With regulatory support (e.g. new EU drone guidelines) and a growing emphasis on preventive maintenance, the market is prime for rapid adoption of AI-powered drone inspections.

Exit Strategy

FlyScope is building a highly strategic technology that could be an attractive acquisition target as we scale. Our long-term roadmap contemplates the following exit paths:

  • Strategic Acquisition: Large industry players in drones, infrastructure, or geospatial analytics may seek to acquire FlyScope to boost their capabilities. Potential acquirers include major drone manufacturers (e.g. DJI, Skydio) expanding into enterprise services, or industrial giants (e.g. Siemens, Trimble, Hexagon) adding AI inspection to their smart city or construction portfolios. The industry is already seeing consolidation – for instance, DroneBase (US) acquired UK drone analytics firm Inspection², and ICR Integrity (UK) acquired drone inspection provider Sky-Futures – underscoring demand for such technology. FlyScope’s unique IP and early market traction position us well for a high-multiple strategic sale in 3-5 years, once we’ve proven our model across several cities.
  • Long-Term Growth or IPO: As an alternative, we could continue scaling as an independent platform for urban infrastructure intelligence. By aggregating critical infrastructure data across cities, FlyScope could grow into a data-as-a-service leader in smart city analytics. In a scenario where we achieve global reach and recurring revenues, a later-stage IPO or joining a larger tech group via acquisition would allow us to maximize investor returns. Our vision includes evolving into a full-stack “urban digital twin” platform, which would command significant valuation in the public markets.

Our primary focus now is to execute on pilots and scale our SaaS platform, which builds value regardless of the specific exit. We remain agile – open to strategic exit discussions when the time is right, while building a company robust enough to go the distance if needed.
